Fallout 76 is an experiment. Bethesda started the game with a focus on survival and building, but they are now trying out new things to see what sticks so they can plan future development. Our community passion is wonderful but please don’t stress over it.
- TL;DR: Go to number 9 now.
- They attempted tough servers with progression, unique mode items, quick travel limitations, a strong focus on PVP, XP bonuses, and a death penalty. Despite the fact that I do not participate in PVP, I like this mode. I’m not sure why it was dropped, but it was. I don’t believe there were enough players. They were, but they were simply sitting at a railway station murdering each other over and over again. This mode was one of my favorites, and I hope it will return. All it would take is a little tinkering.
- They attempted Vault raids. It was poorly done, but with a few changes, it might have been salvageable. Most notably, there were time gating portions of raids that didn’t update quickly enough, leading you to fail the raid since it didn’t function correctly (super frustrating). I believe they could have just eliminated the time factor and everything would have been great. The mode was removed from the game.
- They attempted a battle royale due to the fact that it was “so heated right now.” I’m going to guess that approximately 80% of the players, including myself, chose to hide in the woods for hours on end rather than engage in PVP. They chose to abandon the battle royale mode. PVP isn’t a good concept for Fallout, in my opinion. It’s not that it shouldn’t exist. But, let’s be honest, it’s not going to happen.
- Fallout 1$t is one of our favorite games. There’s no way around it. This community has 320k subscribers, and even if 25% of it pays for Fallout 1st monthly, that’s $900k in income each month, or $3.8 million per quarter. A quarter of a year equals $15.3 million every year. Not to mention atom purchases and the fact that this subreddit community does not represent the whole global player population. In reality, based on all of these calculations, it’s probably about 30% of the global player base. It’s late, and I’m inebriated. The final line is that this game is profitable. There’s no way around it.
- They’ve introduced everyday opportunities. They’re a lot of fun, and if you become good at them, they’re a great method to collect unusual ammunition kinds. However, for some reason, people continue to complain that they are too difficult. No, they aren’t. And I don’t believe they’re going away anytime soon. Something else should be done to break up the monotony, in my opinion. Most likely, the excursions will assist with this.
- They’re planning to experiment with semi-moddable worlds. Exactly what I had hoped for from the beginning. They’ll give us some control over a server. Conan Exiles or other server-based games come to mind. They’ll give us a little more control over server settings. They’ll see how things go. If we don’t like it, they’ll abandon it and try something else. I put it to the test on PTS. I don’t like it the way it is now. The lack of development isn’t worth it. Maybe if we get XP and caps for stuff we accomplish on live servers or something like nuclear winter, but I won’t be playing them otherwise. This one, I believe, will stay and be improved upon over time. These servers, like Conan Exiles, should last a long time (as an example). If you put up a Fallout World server, you should be able to take over all of the workshops and build them up. Anyone who joins your server should be able to see that all of the workshops have been constructed. In this game style, there are many concepts that may be applied.
- Bugs, bugs, bugs! The bugs, oh my! Yes, my friends. This game contains bugs, duplicates, exploitable flaws, and a slew of other issues that I see reported on a regular basis. What Bethesda game doesn’t have this feature? I’m not justifying or supporting Bethesda’s actions here, but why are you torturing “yourself” as a player?
- Over 320k people have subscribed to this subreddit. This series has a large fan base, and our enthusiasm is contagious. It creates a wonderful community. But, please, don’t. As someone who loves both the franchise and the community, I beg you to reconsider. If the present state of this video game and/or the activities (or lack thereof) of its development team is causing you distress or anxiety. Please take a break from the controller and do anything else for a while. Alternatively, you may take the controller and play something else for a while (may I suggest Fallout 4). But don’t get too worked up over it.
