The more you play, the better you get. The same goes for League of Legends and esports! With practice, anyone can make it to Master tier with enough effort. Today’s AMA will discuss how Challenger players can improve their skills as well as share tips on succeeding in a new game bracket.
The “ls op.gg account” is a gaming term that means the player has achieved master tier for the first time. Today, I hit challenger for the first time and am going to answer your questions!
Hello, my name is Moe, and I’m “MoeTube” on the NA server. I’m a high-Elo Cassiopeia main who just reached challenger for the first time today.
Around 3 years ago (Season 9), I reached out to LS on his stream, and after seeing my opgg, which was 1-2k games in low diamond maining yasuo, he scratched his chin and named accomplishments like “Edison invented the light bulb… Armstrong stepped foot on the moon,” and a few others, he said there was no way in hell I could get masters or challenger.
I told him I was extremely enthusiastic about this game, and I was even contemplating IRL coaching (5k USD for one month in Korea), or whatever it takes to go to the top, and I truly wished he could help me at least gain masters for the first time, but he wouldn’t allow me. He was like showing me stats of how many people make it into the NFL with max to talk me out of it and convince me it is impossible, and said that if you cannot master+ in two years of starting league, it will be impossible for people to get master / challenger, including myself, the climb from D4 to masters (top 1000 at the time, so modern d4 at the time, so modern d4 at the time, so modern d4 at the time, so modern d4 at the I’ve also seen him mention it a hundred times in odd videos on his youtube or stream. “Anyone can attain diamond, but challenger is not for everyone.”
This isn’t meant to be a slam on LS; I’m a fan and admire all he’s done for the LoL community. In fact, I admire and appreciate him for it. If he had bad motives, he could’ve just pocketed the $5,000 (which was a lot more to him back then than it is today), knowing that I would fail, and be $5,000. It is morally acceptable for him to reject every time someone like me (gold s6, plat s7, d5 s8, d4 s9 only because they deleted d5) offers to pay that much for a month of irl coaching / mentoring in the hopes of one day becoming a challenger or anything bigger. Out of 1,000 individuals like that, I’d estimate 950 won’t even make grandmaster (equal to master rank s9 when we chatted), and the ones who do end up hitting challenger, 35 would’ve been able to accomplish it on their own, and 15 would wind up in grandmaster and can only hit challenger with coaching. As a result, just 15 out of 1000 participants in such circumstance would get it as a result of his assistance, while the other 985 would have wasted their time and money.
The purpose of this post is for the AMA, as well as THE MESSAGE that anybody may strike challenger, regardless of what anyone says. People think it’s impossible for them to accomplish it, and that you have to be born with special abilities to be able to do it. Don’t get me wrong: a single parent with four children, a poor salary, and two jobs CAN reach challenger, but it’s clearly not worth spending tens of thousands of hours on, therefore they won’t. And, just like you, if you’re not a challenger, I want you to know that YOU CAN DO IT, and the only question is if the hundreds of hours of tremendous commitment and sacrifices are worth it. It’s crucial for you to understand that you’re not a challenger because it’s just not worth it for you, not because you’re dumb, foolish, or untalented, or because you don’t have supportive parents, or because you were born Korean, or because of any other reason. If you have at least 80 IQ, if not less, you should be able to work with it.
TL;DR (short version) – He warned me I wouldn’t earn masters, and that not everyone can obtain masters+. I’ve reached challenger, and I believe you could as well if you really wanted to. AMA stands for “Ask Me Anything.”
