In recent months, the cryptocurrency market has been in a state of both unprecedented growth and free fall. The EKWB Lays Off 25% of Workforce in Anticipation of Weaker Water Block Demand is an example
of how volatility can have direct impacts on companies across industries. Despite this, there are still many other opportunities that exist within crypto-space to capture value and build strong businesses.
The “ces 2022 water cooling” is a trend that has been growing in popularity over the past few years. EKWB is taking advantage of this, and laying off 25% of their workforce as they anticipate weaker demand for water blocks.

EKWB, a well-known producer of premium liquid cooling systems, has chosen to lay off a fifth of its staff at its Slovenian headquarters. According to a statement released by the firm, the decision was made because to lower demand; evidently, it is much more difficult to persuade fanatics to spend their hard-earned money on water blocks these days.
The following is EKWB’s official statement, as obtained by TechPowerUp:
“During the first quarter of 2022, EK, the leading supplier of computer liquid cooling systems, saw signals that consumer spending was beginning to fall as a result of global events. Despite expecting a dip in demand for the EU and the US during our 2021 Global Summit, the start of the Ukraine crisis saw sales fall short of predictions.”
“As a result of these developments, which imply a modest readiness to spend, EK is taking proactive measures to simplify our operations in Slovenia.” Regrettably, this resulted in a 25 percent fall in the number of workers. EK has also begun ambitions to expand into new geographical areas and sales channels with more exceptional and creative items.”
“EK is more devoted than ever to providing the quality and experience that our loyal customers expect. We genuinely hope that our activities will enable us to continue doing so for a long time.”

In reaction to a dramatic reduction in sales, EK Water Blocks, arguably the most well-known maker of DIY PC cooling solutions, has reduced its workforce by a quarter. This impacts more than 60 of the 200+ IT jobs in Slovenia, EKWB’s native country, which it proudly promotes. The North American and European markets account for almost half of EKWB’s sales. At present point, the company’s market presence in Asia is small, but it is a resurgent area of focus. According to Slovenian news sources, the firm has seen quarterly revenue declines of up to 20% since October 2021.
The COVID-19 epidemic, notably its economic effect, a jump in PC hardware costs, and individuals spending less on premium/novelty gear that EKWB specializes in—DIY liquid cooling solutions—are being blamed by the business for the sales declines. The corporation also mentioned how the conflict in Ukraine is generating numerous supply shortages for European producers. In a statement, Matja Kr (CEO, EKWB) even criticized COVID-19’s sociocultural influence, notably pauses between epidemic waves that allow people to travel and enjoy the outdoors instead of spending money on things that keep them home, like as gaming.
Edvard König started EKWB in 1999, and the company has been providing excellent liquid cooling solutions for enthusiasts ever since. The Vector2 water block for ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics cards, which has a CNC-machined black-anodized backplate, 3D-machined Plexi insert, and minimalistic design, is one of the company’s most recent products.
