A few days ago, a new petition was created to change the name of the upcoming Pan-American Battleship in order to avoid offending anyone and instead make it more inclusive. The petition came about after an article surfaced on Polygon titled “Dockyard looks forward without looking back” that stated Dockyard’s CEO had plans for a game called “Pan-American Warships.”
The “uss new jersey crew list 1945” is a plea to change the name of an upcoming ship. The request was made on the subreddit r/Dockyard, and has received a lot of support from users.
I posted a piece two days ago on a problem with the name of the forthcoming Pan-American Battleship Tier 8 “Atlântico,” which highlighted a forum post noting the issue and suggesting an alternative name. In essence, the name “Atlântico” is much ahead of the game’s scope since it refers to a brand new Brazilian aircraft carrier that the navy bought from the United Kingdom and was formerly known as HMS Ocean. To emphasize the problem, I’ll copy and paste a portion of the original forum post:
So, why does “Atlântico” have such a poor reputation? Simply speaking, this battleship is a 1914 design that has been updated. Only 104 years later, with the purchase of the British carrier “HMS Ocean,” would Brazil name a ship “Atlântico.” To put things in perspective, Brazil had only recently celebrated its 100th year of independence in 1914. The term has nothing to do with any criteria that the Brazilian Navy could have had at the time. I can only assume that the decision to name the ship “Atlântico” had more to do with marketing than history, because “Atlântico” is the name of the Brazilian Navy’s main capital ship right now, and it may attract more players who are unaware of Brazilian naval history but are aware of our Navy’s recent acquisitions, even if only by name.
Maredraco, the Brazilian community manager, arrived later that day.
There were discussions about changing the name “Atlântico” to “Deodoro,” according to the article. So, in case you’re wondering, what’s the deal with this new moniker? The name comes from Manuel Deodoro da Fonseca, a Brazilian marshal who fought in the Paraguay War/Triple Alliance War and later led a coup to depose Emperor Pedro II of Brazil, establishing the first Brazilian republic with himself as president. The name “Deodoro” was previously used by a pre-dreadnought built for the Brazilian navy in France. The ship was then transferred to Mexico before being wrecked soon before WW2. So far, so good; the new name is on par with Cristoforo Colombo, Congress, and Pommern, names used in fictitious ships that don’t follow the standard naming pattern, but were previously used in ships commanded by these nations, so it’s fair game.
The Brazilian community manager reappeared with a fresh comment on the matter just a few hours ago. I’ll post it here for everyone to read.
Good day, everyone! We looked over some of the positive responses for Atlántico battleship names and discussed a few of them internally. The Atlántico name was chosen partly because it is a more diverse and contemporary option for the larger public that would engage with the ship and the Dockyard. Despite the fact that the name does not appear in the game’s historical period, it is a tribute to the modern Brazilian Navy. At the same time, although the community has come up with a number of fascinating ideas, many of them have flaws of their own, and there is no clear agreement on which alternate name would be ideal. However, we are pleased to save some of those proposals and the research behind them for when we release additional Pan-American ship content in the future, since some of them are applicable to all ship classes. We’ll also explore incorporating the LATAM community more directly at that time, such as by permitting public vote if there are numerous shortlisted options and the conditions allow it.
Essentially, the term “Atlântico” will be retained for marketing purposes, despite the fact that the article recognizes that it is a “contemporary option.” This is worrisome since it allows WG to employ contemporary names on future ships. Would it bother the American people if a future capital ship for the country was named after Doris Miller? The name might not fit in the present scope of the game, but it would undoubtedly be a marketing decision given that it is the genuine name currently in use.
Please let us know what you think about this.

A call for the name of the planned Pan-American Dockyard Battleship to be changed.
The name of the next Pan-American Premium Battleship “Atlântico” at Tier 8 has sparked a large forum discussion. According to the description, the name “Atlântico” (currently used in a Brazilian CV for a brazilian who served in the Royal Navy as HMS Ocean) is far too modern for…

The following modifications for Carriers were disclosed in a recent devblog by Wargaming. Votekicking should be abolished.
This has finally pushed me over the edge. I honestly don’t get why booting someone doesn’t prevent them from re-queuing for your game. Other than to prevent players from falsely kicking another player, I can’t think of any other reason for it. I’m sure you can make your own rules…
