The alternatives are starting to pile up for gamers interested in switching to one of today’s finest display technologies this year, from LG’s 42-inch OLED TV to Samsung and Alienware’s impending QD-OLED gaming monitors.
The most recent information comes from home entertainment writer Steve May, who tweeted yesterday that LG would release a new 48-inch OLED gaming display under its gaming-focused UltraGear brand. DisplayPort and HDMI 2.1 connection, an anti-reflective screen, and “understated” branding in the form of a large UltraGear logo on the back of the monitor are all features users may anticipate.
LG now offers two OLED monitors, the 26.5-inch UltraFine OLED Pro and the 32-inch UltraFine OLED Pro, however neither is suitable for gaming owing to the 60 Hz refresh rate. The monitors are also above $3,000, which puts them on par with some of LG’s largest OLED TVs.
LG has announced that a 48-inch OLED gaming display with UltraGear branding will be available in July. It will have an anti-reflective screen as well as DisplayPort and HDMI v2.1. @LGUK, I can’t wait!
