Planet Automation seems *much* better than Sector automation

Artificial intelligence has always been a part of the game industry. It’s only natural that it would become more prominent as technology develops and progresses. Some believe AI will make games much more immersive, while others say its drawbacks outweighs the benefits.

The “stellaris sector vs planet automation” is a question that has been asked many times. The answer to the question is that, while it may seem like they are similar and have similar features, there are some key differences between them.

I’m not sure whether this has been extensively tested, but I was playing about with it last night when my empire became large enough that I stopped caring about 90% of the planets and just wanted them to quiet up and do their job.

Basic resource production through the sector AI, followed by a few more to particular planet foci that were automated and left to their own devices for a few of decades before checking in.

The Sector AI was, to put it mildly, abysmal. The planets would be configured to things like Generator worlds, but with all mining districts and the mining building, but no generator or energy building, or it would spam entertainment districts and worthless structures, similar to how the habitats were set up.

It worked quite well for creating basic resource planets, but not so well for unity planets, although it’s hard to tell whether that’s because I’m a Rogue Servitor or because they may not have been coded correctly because AI was before the unity upgrade, I believe. For unity planets, I had no idea what to make and didn’t really attempt, so I simply constructed random things haha.

Although it struggled with having enough population and building slots to really effectively do tech worlds, since the AI doesn’t know to turn off useless things like clerk jobs, forge world focus seemed to do decently well, and tech worlds it would at least pretend to build the right stuff, it struggled with having enough population and building slots to really effectively do tech worlds.

set your planetary focus on your planet to Mining / Generator / Tech World etc and then click the little gear that says Automate. QrNGNmZ - Planet Automation seems *much* better than Sector automation You should be setting your planet focus regardless of whether you are going to automate, it gives 25% more resources.

Assemble your planets and make sure it has some money to spend. Depending on whether you have more of, you may offer it Energy or Minerals. If it runs out of money to spend, it will alert you that the automated planets want further funds, and you may give it more money to spend on gene clinics and enforcement structures.

TLDR;

Overall, if you merely want certain planets to be typical mining, generator, or agricultural worlds, definitely do so. Y7lGLHi - Planet Automation seems *much* better than Sector automation

Use the automation from the planet screen to set the planetary focus. It’s great for this, particularly if you have Machine Worlds, since city districts will provide clerk positions to your pops who might be miners or techs instead.

If you want specialized planets, keep an eye on them and turn off all the clerk jobs to assist the automated AI out if it’s having trouble, but it’s not horrible if you don’t worry about it being really efficient.

I wouldn’t recommend turning on automation for planets you’ve taken from the Fallen Empire because it might destroy your unique buildings that you can’t replace, and I wouldn’t trust it with important worlds like your Ecumopolis or Ringworlds, but managing your couple of core worlds and setting the rest to planet automation is fine in my opinion. At the very least, after you’ve reached the point where “efficiency is no longer important to me,”

Sector AI settings are not recommended at all; they seem to be really terrible for some reason. I expected it to follow the same logic, but _()_/ _()_/ _()_/ _()_/ _()_/ _()_/ ()
