Is Y’shtola Blind? (And How Did It Happen?) –

As part of the story, Y’shtola is stricken with an illness that blinds her in one eye. The developers stated that she sees “flashes of light and blurred shapes.”

Y’shtola is a character in the game “The Elder Scrolls Online.” The player can choose to play as either a male or female version of Y’shtola.

Is Y’shtola Blind? (And How Did It Happen?) –

On a physical level, Y’shtola is blind, yet she possesses the power to “see” magically. Due to the events of A Realm Reborn, she loses her sight. It’s discussed in further detail in the game’s Heavensward expansion, and we can learn more about it here.

Y’shtola Rhul is a well-known character from Final Fantasy XIV.

Her look has changed dramatically throughout the course of the game’s narrative, but her eyes have become notably paler.

You may be asking why this is if, like me, you sailed through XIV by pressing the “skip cutscene” button.

Her blindness, after all, does not seem to be a hindrance in any manner. She’s still a fearsome fighter and steadfast comrade, and she’s a vital part of the game’s continuing plot.

Note: From here on out, we’ll delve into more spoiler zone, so if you haven’t seen this section of the movie yet, be warned!

What Happened to Y’shtola’s Vision?

Y’shtola is one of the player’s most powerful companions, as well as one of the few characters from Final Fantasy XIV’s legacy edition.

She is a prominent member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, sophisticated, haughty, and exceedingly competent.

Y’shtola is also a skilled spellcaster. Her vanity and self-assurance, though, may prove her undoing.

In truth, magic was the cause of her blindness.

Y’shtola and Thancred Waters (another fan favorite character) are placed in a dangerous condition as a result of the circumstances that lead to players wandering through Ishgard in the Heavensward expansion.

The Scions of the Seventh Dawn are betrayed from inside and accused of assassinating Nanamo Ul Namo, the Sultana of Ul’dah.

Y’shtola and Thancred assure the player character’s safety, but they themselves get stuck.

In dire circumstances, drastic methods are required. And to bring Y’shtola and Thancred to safety, Y’shtola uses an old prohibited magic called Flow.

Flow transports physical beings down the Lifestream to another place by reducing them to aether and moving them along the Lifestream – a very difficult and unpredictable procedure.

Thancred rises from the Lifestream in the Dravanian Forelands (totally nude, as we see in an entertaining sequence).

Y’shtola, on the other hand, vanishes for all intents and purposes.

She is effectively locked inside the Lifestream, unable to leave without the help of others. The Scions learn of her fate thanks to Urianger’s efforts.

Y’shtola’s aetherial energy will diminish unless she is saved from the Lifestream, and she will be lost forever.

After a task chain that includes enlisting elemental assistance, locating her sister, and seeing a lot of cutscenes, Y’shtola is plucked from the Lifestream.

She’s largely undamaged. However, she has lost her eyesight as a result of her time spent not truly being physically.

When you consider the alternatives in both cases, that’s a modest price to pay – and it doesn’t seem to be holding her back all that much.

Y’shtola goes straight back to work, assisting the Warrior of Light and her Scion allies in advancing the Main Scenario Questline.

If Y’shtola is physically blind, how does she know?

Y’shtola, as previously stated, is a prodigious spellcaster.

Her time in the Lifestream may have taken away her physical sight, but she can now “see” with her mind.

It’s unclear what she sees as a consequence of this.

However, it is likely to have a negative impact on her in the long term.

Her stay in the Lifestream enhances her magical abilities at the expense of her physical sight.

Not long after saving Y’shtola from the Lifestream, we see her former instructor, Master Matoya. Matoya is the one who notices (in secret) that Y’shtola’s new way of perceiving the universe is consuming her aether and, as a consequence, decreasing her life span.

So, would Y’shtola’s amazing vision put an end to her life?

To be honest, I have my doubts.

She’s basically the game’s face these days, revered by both fans and the people of Eorzea.

It’s exceedingly improbable that Y’shtola will ever suffer as a consequence of her magical eyesight.

It may just be waved away, or another mystical McGuffin could come to rescue the day. Y’shtola is now much too important to the game’s continuing plot.

She’s engaged in most of the major events, and she has some of the game’s most memorable lines (“Try again when you’ve grown into a man.”) Damn.)

Y’shtola’s hubris in casting Flow may have cost her dearly. However, it has never kept her back.

As a consequence, she’s just become stronger and more competent.

And with Endwalker, we can expect Y’shtola to soar even higher (if the trailers are any clue!).
